Fresno City vs Reedley

REEDLEY, Calif. (Interstat) — A key Central Valley women’s junior college basketball matchup is set for Tuesday when the Fresno City Rams visit the Reedley Tigers in a California Community College Athletic Association contest.

The Rams (19-7) enter with a three-game winning streak, most recently edging Lemoore 58-56 in overtime on Saturday. They have dominated the recent series, including a 72-47 home victory over Reedley on Jan. 24. In that game, Fresno City’s Sara Shein scored nine points in 18 minutes.

Shein, a player to watch for the Rams, is coming off a career performance. She logged 21 points, six rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes against Lemoore. Over her last seven games, she has averaged 11.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists, providing consistent scoring and defensive activity.

The host Tigers (16-9) have won two straight, including a 61-54 road win at Taft on Saturday. They will look for a sharper offensive performance after being held to 47 points in the January loss to Fresno City. Reedley’s fortunes often hinge on the production of Taylor Sutherland. The standout guard is capable of explosive performances, as evidenced by her 36-point, 11-rebound effort in a 99-39 rout of Porterville on Feb. 11. However, she was limited to just one minute in a loss to Lemoore on Jan. 31, highlighting her importance to the Tigers’ success.

Fresno City’s defense, which forced 22 Tiger turnovers in the first meeting, will aim to contain Sutherland and improve its position in the conference standings. Reedley seeks to protect its home court and avenge its earlier defeat, relying on Sutherland’s scoring punch and a more disciplined overall effort.

The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. PST tip-off at Reedley College.
