Glendale vs Los Angeles Valley

GLENDALE, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Glendale College women’s basketball team will look to continue its dominant season when it visits Los Angeles Valley College on Saturday for a California community college matchup.

The Gauchos (21-4) enter the contest on a 10-game winning streak, having last lost on Jan. 7. They most recently defeated Bakersfield 55-47 on Wednesday, led by guard Sammy Velasquez’s 17 points in 39 minutes. Velasquez has been a consistent offensive force for Glendale, which has held opponents under 50 points in six of its last 10 victories.

The Monarchs (10-15) have found recent success, winning three of their last four, including an 82-43 rout of Canyons on Wednesday. Guard Aliyah Muhammad powered that win with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and a block in just 23 minutes. Her all-around play will be key for a Valley offense that has shown high-scoring potential at home.

This game is a rematch of a Jan. 21 meeting, which Glendale won 59-46 at home. In that game, the Gauchos’ defense stifled the Monarchs’ attack.

The matchup is part of Sophomore Valley Pride Day at Los Angeles Valley College. While Glendale sits atop the conference standings, Valley will aim to leverage home-court advantage and momentum from its recent blowout win to play spoiler.

Glendale’s balanced attack, featuring contributors like Shadel Ffrench (14 rebounds vs. Bakersfield) and Aniah Bradley, will test a Valley defense that allowed 70 points or more in three of its four January losses. The Monarchs will counter with a lineup that includes Valerie Anzora, coming off a 10-point, 8-rebound performance, and Liliana Cornejo (12 points vs. Canyons).

Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.
