Mission vs Gavilan

GILROY, Calif. (Interstat) — A lopsided California junior college women’s basketball matchup is set for Friday when the Mission Saints visit the Gavilan Rams.

The Saints (13-10) enter riding a wave of momentum, having won four of their last five games, including a dominant 78-60 road victory over Chabot on Feb. 6. Their offense has been potent during this stretch, averaging 80 points in those four wins.

In stark contrast, the Rams (2-17) have struggled profoundly, losing 12 consecutive games. Their most recent outing was an 84-46 defeat at San Jose on Feb. 4. Defense has been a persistent issue, as Gavilan has allowed 80 or more points in six games during their losing skid.

The teams met just over a month ago, on Jan. 9, with Mission delivering a 95-34 rout of Gavilan. The Saints will look to replicate that defensive intensity.

A key player to watch for Mission is Kaylani Trout-Lacy. While her recent statistical contributions have been limited, she is a consistent presence for a Saints team that has found its rhythm. In the Jan. 9 win over Gavilan, Mission’s balanced attack overwhelmed the Rams from the opening tip.

For Gavilan, stopping the slide will require a significant defensive improvement and finding a source of consistent scoring. The Rams’ only victories this season came against Monterey Peninsula (50-43) on Jan. 16 and in non-conference play.

Friday’s contest presents a clear contrast: Mission seeks to solidify its winning record and continue its climb, while Gavilan desperately searches for a way to snap a demoralizing streak and find a positive spark before the season concludes.

Tip-off is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13, 2026. Following this game, Mission will prepare for a back-to-back against Skyline on Feb. 17 and 18, while Gavilan will host Monterey Peninsula on Feb. 18.
