Imperial Valley vs San Diego City

SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The San Diego City Knights will look to continue their push for a winning season when they host the struggling Imperial Valley Arabs in a California community college women’s basketball matchup on Friday.

The Knights (13-10) enter on a high note after an 81-70 road victory over Southwestern on Wednesday, powered by a standout performance from forward Aamori Daniels. Daniels, a key player to watch, recorded 20 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in that win, cementing her status as a consistent double-double threat. Her recent play has been a bright spot for San Diego City, which has won three of its last five games.

Imperial Valley (4-17) seeks to halt a seven-game losing streak, a skid that includes a 29-76 defeat at MiraCosta on Jan. 30. The Arabs’ last outing was a 49-62 home loss to Southwestern on Jan. 28. In their most recent meeting with the Knights on Jan. 14, the Arabs fell 36-64 at home.

Arabs guard Dafne Borunda will be a focal point for Imperial Valley. She logged 38 minutes and contributed 11 points and six rebounds in a loss at San Diego Mesa on Jan. 23, demonstrating her capacity for heavy minutes and production. Containing Daniels while finding offensive rhythm will be critical for the visitors.

The Knights have shown potency at home this season, including a 79-46 rout of Cuyamaca on Jan. 28. They will be heavily favored against an Imperial Valley squad that has been outscored by an average of 30.5 points during its current losing streak.

Friday’s contest is the second of two regular-season meetings between the teams. Following this game, San Diego City will prepare to host MiraCosta on Feb. 13, while Imperial Valley will look ahead to a home game against Palomar on Feb. 11.

Tip-off is set for Friday evening at San Diego City College.
