SURPRISE, Ariz. (Interstat) — The OUAZ Spirit used a dominant third-quarter surge and a stifling defensive effort to overwhelm the Stanton Elks 90-49 in a women’s NAIA basketball game Tuesday night. The contest was closer than the final score indicated for the first 20 minutes, but the Spirit broke the game open after halftime, outscoring the Elks 30-13 in the third quarter to turn a 12-point halftime lead into an insurmountable advantage.
