Incarnate Word Cardinals at Tulsa Golden Hurricane

TULSA (Interstat) — Incarnate Word will visit Tulsa on Tuesday for a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game at the Donald Reynolds Center. The Cardinals are the visiting team, and the Golden Hurricane is the home team. Both programs enter the matchup at 0-0 and will be looking to establish momentum in the early portion of their schedules.

Incarnate Word most recently lost to Nicholls State 81-55, while Tulsa most recently fell to North Texas 76-73. The Cardinals will look to reset after that result and open their season with a road test against a Tulsa team that also is seeking a fresh start. Incarnate Word’s early schedule includes road games against UTEP, Texas-San Antonio, North Texas and Texas A&M, followed by home contests against Texas State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Our Lady of the Lake, McNeese State, Southeastern Louisiana and New Orleans. That stretch will give the Cardinals a mix of in-state and regional opponents as they move through nonconference play.

Tulsa’s upcoming slate features home games against Rogers St., Oklahoma State, Texas Southern, New Orleans, Oklahoma Baptist, Oral Roberts and SMU, along with neutral-site matchups against Stephen F. Austin, Central Michigan and Bowling Green. The Golden Hurricane will open at home before facing a challenging stretch that includes in-state and regional opponents. The meeting with Incarnate Word gives Tulsa a chance to establish early rhythm at the Donald Reynolds Center, while Incarnate Word will test itself away from home before a busy run of nonconference games. The early schedule offers both teams a chance to build continuity, though neither team will be judged solely on the opening result. Tulsa will lean on its home setting, while Incarnate Word will seek a steady start on the road.

The Cardinals and Golden Hurricane will meet with both teams still shaping rotations and seeking an early-season result. Incarnate Word’s recent result against Nicholls State and Tulsa’s narrow loss to North Texas offer the most recent reference points, though both teams will be working from a new starting point. The matchup also gives Tulsa a home opportunity before its schedule grows more demanding, and it gives Incarnate Word an early road challenge against a Division I opponent. Tulsa’s home venue and schedule give the Golden Hurricane a chance to settle in early, while Incarnate Word will try to use the road game as a measuring point before returning to a demanding slate.

Interstat’s game simulator projects Tulsa to defeat Incarnate Word 67-61.
