Seattle Redhawks at New Mexico Lobos

ALBUQUERQUE (Interstat) — New Mexico will host Seattle in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game Monday at The Pit. The New Mexico Lobos will be the home team, and the Seattle Redhawks will be the visiting team. The game is the season opener for both programs.

Both teams enter with 0-0 records. Seattle’s most recent result was an 80-58 loss at Washington State. New Mexico’s most recent result was a 62-61 home loss to Boise State.

New Mexico will look to establish early rhythm at home after a narrow final result in its last outing. Seattle will seek a stronger start on the road after falling in its most recent game. The matchup gives both teams an early opportunity to set rotations and evaluate new contributors in a nonconference setting. The Lobos will be the home team at The Pit in Albuquerque, N.M., while the Redhawks will be the visiting team. The opening game will be played before a home crowd for New Mexico.

The Redhawks’ next 10 games include contests against UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, Pacific Lutheran, Chicago State, Weber State, Montana, North Texas, Lewis & Clark and Idaho. Seattle is scheduled to face UC Riverside at home before road games at UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly. Later in the stretch, the Redhawks will play Pacific Lutheran at home, Chicago State in Anchorage, Alaska, and return home for Weber State, Montana, North Texas and Lewis & Clark. Seattle also is set to play at Idaho. The Redhawks will play their opener on the road before returning to Seattle for their first listed home game against UC Riverside.

The Lobos’ next 10 games include N.M. Highlands, Fresno State, BYU, Colorado, New Mexico State, Eastern Kentucky, Loyola Marymount, Arizona, UC Irvine and Portland. New Mexico is slated to open that stretch with N.M. Highlands at home before road games at Fresno State and BYU. The Lobos then return home for Colorado, New Mexico State and Eastern Kentucky before later home games against Loyola Marymount, Arizona, UC Irvine and Portland. The Lobos will play at home first before traveling to Fresno State and BYU, then returning to Albuquerque for three consecutive home games.

The matchup offers both programs an early test in the opening portion of their schedules. Seattle will aim to manage the road environment and limit turnovers, while New Mexico will try to use its home court to control the pace. Both teams will be seeking their first result of the young season.

Interstat’s game simulator is projecting a final score of New Mexico 70, Seattle 54.
