Preview: American Eagles at Boston University Terriers
BOSTON (Interstat) — The Boston University Terriers will look to complete a regular-season sweep when they host the American Eagles in a Patriot League women’s basketball matchup on Saturday.
The Terriers (10-19) edged the Eagles (7-22) 79-76 in overtime on Feb. 28 in the teams’ most recent meeting. Bella McLaughlin scored 10 points for Boston University in that victory. The series is split this season, with American having won the first contest 53-45 at home on Jan. 3.
American enters having snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 62-60 road win at Lehigh on Wednesday. Charlotte Tuhy led the Eagles with 22 points in that victory. Tuhy, who scored 23 points in the overtime loss to BU last week, is American’s primary offensive threat.
Boston University seeks to rebound from a 64-58 home loss to Holy Cross on Wednesday. McLaughlin paced the Terriers with 17 points and five assists in that defeat. She has been a consistent contributor, including a 22-point performance in a win at Colgate on Feb. 18.
Despite their records, both teams have shown the ability to play tight games against each other. The Eagles will aim to carry momentum from their narrow win at Lehigh, while the Terriers will rely on home court at Case Gymnasium to secure a winning streak in the series.
Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
