KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Interstat) — West Virginia used a dominant second quarter to pull away from Arizona State for a 67-54 victory in a Big 12 women’s basketball game Friday at T-Mobile Center.

The Mountaineers outscored the Sun Devils 21-13 in the second period to build a 39-30 halftime lead and maintained control throughout. Sydney Shaw led West Virginia with 19 points, while Gia Cooke added 16. Jordan Harrison contributed 10 points and five assists.

Marley Washenitz scored 14 points for Arizona State, and Heloisa Carrera added 10. The Mountaineers capitalized on turnovers, scoring 35 points off them compared to just 10 for the Sun Devils. West Virginia also held a decisive 32-18 advantage in points in the paint.

The win improved West Virginia to 25-6 this season. Arizona State fell to 24-10.
