SHELBY, N.C. (Interstat) — Gardner-Webb used a strong fourth quarter to defeat Charleston Southern 56-44 in a Big South Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday at Paul Porter Arena.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs outscored the Buccaneers 18-14 in the final period to secure the win. Tyonna Bailey led all scorers with 24 points for Charleston Southern. Amina Gray paced Gardner-Webb with 15 points.

Gardner-Webb capitalized on turnovers, scoring 27 points off 19 Charleston Southern giveaways. The Buccaneers struggled offensively, shooting 30.2% from the field. The Runnin’ Bulldogs improved to 9-16 overall, while Charleston Southern fell to 8-17.
