Loyola Chicago at Fordham

Preview: Loyola Chicago Visits Fordham in Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Clash

NEW YORK (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in the Atlantic 10 Conference will meet Wednesday when the Loyola Chicago Ramblers visit the Fordham Rams in women’s basketball.

The game, scheduled for Feb. 4, 2026, at Rose Hill Gymnasium, features teams with nearly identical records. Loyola Chicago enters at 10-11 overall, while Fordham sits at 9-13.

The Ramblers have found a rhythm in conference play, winning four of their last five games. They are coming off a 60-52 home victory over Saint Bonaventure on Saturday, led by guard Alex-Anne Bessette’s 18 points. Bessette has been the catalyst for Loyola’s surge, averaging 16.3 points over her last six contests. She scored 23 points in a win at Saint Louis on Jan. 24 and 20 points against the same Billikens team earlier in the month.

Fordham, conversely, has struggled, losing five of its last six games. The Rams fell 61-47 to Rhode Island at home on Saturday. While the offense has sputtered, forward Kaila Berry has been a consistent presence on the boards. She grabbed 11 rebounds in the loss to Rhode Island and has been a key interior player for the Rams throughout the season.

The recent results highlight contrasting trends. Loyola’s recent success has been built on timely scoring and defense, holding three of its last five opponents under 60 points. Fordham has been hampered by offensive inconsistencies, failing to reach 60 points in four of its last six outings.

Historically, this is a relatively new conference rivalry. Both programs will look to this matchup as a critical opportunity to improve their positioning before the conference tournament. For Loyola, a win would solidify its move above .500 in A-10 play. For Fordham, a victory at home could provide a necessary spark to reverse its recent fortunes.

The Ramblers’ next game is at home against VCU on Feb. 7. The Rams will travel to face La Salle on the same date.
