FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Interstat) — The No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns, coming off a narrow road victory over Tennessee, delivered a performance of overwhelming force Thursday night, dismantling the Arkansas Razorbacks 93-62 in a Southeastern Conference women’s basketball matchup at Bud Walton Arena.

From the opening tip, Texas imposed its will, showcasing a stifling defense and a relentless offensive attack that left the home team reeling. The Longhorns opened the game on a 12-0 run, holding Arkansas scoreless for the first five minutes and 41 seconds. The Razorbacks did not record their first field goal until Taleyah Jones connected on a jump shot with 35 seconds remaining in the first quarter, by which point Texas had already built an 18-2 lead.

The first quarter set the tone for the entire contest. Texas forced eight Arkansas turnovers in the opening period, converting them into 10 points. The Longhorns’ defensive pressure, led by Rori Harmon’s on-ball tenacity, disrupted Arkansas’s offensive flow completely. The Razorbacks finished the quarter shooting just 1-for-9 from the field and trailed 18-9.

The second quarter saw the Longhorns extend their dominance, outscoring Arkansas 29-18. Madison Booker, the dynamic sophomore from Ridgeland, Mississippi, caught fire, scoring 11 points in the period. Her back-to-back three-pointers midway through the quarter, both assisted by Bryanna Preston, pushed the Texas lead to 20 points. The Longhorns’ ball movement was crisp, generating open looks, while their size advantage inside, anchored by 6-foot-6 center Kyla Oldacre, controlled the paint at both ends. Texas took a commanding 47-27 lead into halftime.

Any notion of a second-half rally by Arkansas was quickly extinguished. Texas opened the third quarter with a 7-2 spurt, and the lead ballooned to 30 points on an Aaliyah Crump layup with 1:46 left in the period. The Longhorns’ depth was on full display as contributions came from across the roster. Ashton Judd provided a significant spark off the bench, scoring all 13 of her points in the second half, including a perfect 6-for-6 shooting performance from inside the arc.

The fourth quarter was a formality, with Texas maintaining its 30-point cushion throughout. The Longhorns’ offensive efficiency was remarkable, scoring 93 points on 78 possessions for an offensive rating of 118.8. They shot 49.4% from the field and out-rebounded Arkansas 48-26, including a devastating 14-3 advantage on the offensive glass that led to 19 second-chance points.

Booker led all scorers with 21 points in just 25 minutes of action. Oldacre was a force in the paint, adding 13 points, five steals and two blocks. Crump contributed 16 points, while Jordan Lee filled the stat sheet with 11 points, four assists and seven rebounds. Harmon, the floor general, directed the offense with seven assists and added eight points and three steals.

For Arkansas, which fell to 11-17 overall and continued to struggle in SEC play, Jones led the way with 16 points. Bonnie Deas, the freshman from Melbourne, Australia, added 14 points. However, the Razorbacks were plagued by 19 turnovers, which Texas converted into 28 points. Arkansas shot a respectable 37.8% from the field but attempted 34 fewer shots than the Longhorns, a direct result of the rebounding disparity and turnover issues.

The most pivotal stretch of the game was undoubtedly its inception. Texas’s immediate and aggressive defensive stance, which produced steals, blocks, and rushed Arkansas possessions, created an insurmountable deficit before the Razorbacks could find any rhythm. That opening 12-0 run, fueled by defensive stops and transition opportunities, established a psychological and numerical gap that Arkansas, ranked 14th in the SEC, had no capacity to overcome against the nation’s top team.

With the victory, Texas improved to 25-3 overall and solidified its hold atop the SEC standings. The Longhorns will look to continue their march toward the postseason when they host Mississippi State on Sunday. Arkansas, meanwhile, will try to regroup on the road at Texas A&M, also on Sunday.

The announced attendance at Bud Walton Arena was 2,828. Texas covered the pregame spread as 32.5-point favorites, and the total score of 155 surpassed the over/under line of 148.5.
