Marshall at Central Michigan
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (Interstat) — A surging Marshall women’s basketball team, led by the dynamic play of guard Timaya Lewis-Eutsey, will face a Central Michigan squad coming off a dominant road victory when the teams meet in a nonconference matchup Saturday at McGuirk Arena.
The Thundering Herd (19-6) enter on a three-game winning streak, including a 69-60 victory at South Alabama on Wednesday. Lewis-Eutsey, a consistent offensive force, scored 17 points with six assists in that win. She is averaging 22.4 points and 5.6 assists over her last seven games, highlighted by a 33-point, 10-assist performance in a narrow loss to Troy on Jan. 28.
Central Michigan (14-7) is also riding momentum after a 90-59 rout at Buffalo on Wednesday. The Chippewas showcased a balanced attack, with Taylor Anderson grabbing 17 rebounds to go with nine points and five assists, and Madi Morson scoring a game-high 23 points. Anderson has been a rebounding stalwart, averaging 8.4 boards over her last five contests.
The game presents a contrast in styles. Marshall relies heavily on Lewis-Eutsey’s scoring and playmaking, supported by contributors like Ni’Kiah Chesterfield and Meredith Maier, who each had 17 points against South Alabama. The Thundering Herd’s offense has been potent, scoring 80 or more points in four of their last ten games.
Central Michigan will counter with interior presence and defense, anchored by Anderson’s work on the glass. The Chippewas have held opponents to 59 points or fewer in three of their last five wins.
Saturday’s contest is a final nonconference test for both programs before they resume their respective league schedules next week. Marshall returns to Sun Belt play against Georgia State on Feb. 12, while Central Michigan hosts Akron in Mid-American Conference action on Feb. 11.
Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at McGuirk Arena on the campus of Central Michigan University.
