HAMPTON, Va. (Interstat) — Elon dominated Hampton 79-53 in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game Monday at the Convocation Center. The visiting Phoenix seized control early, leading 38-18 at halftime after holding the Pirates to just nine points in each of the first two quarters. Elon maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the second half, fueled by 44 points in the paint and 26 points off turnovers. Hampton’s offense struggled to find consistency until a 20-point fourth quarter when the outcome was already decided. With the victory, Elon improved to 9-10 overall, while Hampton fell to 8-11. The Phoenix swept the regular-season series, having also defeated the Pirates on Jan. 4.
