Robert Morris at Wright State
DAYTON, Ohio (Interstat) — A surging Robert Morris looks to continue its climb in the Horizon League standings when it visits a struggling Wright State squad in a women’s basketball matchup Saturday.
The Colonials (13-6) have won three of their last four, most recently a 55-40 defensive triumph over Youngstown State on Wednesday. Eva Levingston, a key player to watch, scored 13 points in that win and is averaging 10.1 points over her last eight contests. Her versatility was on full display in a Dec. 29 outing, where she posted 6 rebounds, 4 assists and a block.
Wright State (6-14) seeks to halt a five-game skid, having last won on Jan. 2 against Detroit. The Raiders are coming off a lopsided 82-56 home loss to Northern Kentucky on Jan. 17. Guard Breezie Williams has been a bright spot, averaging 16.0 points over her last six games. She erupted for 26 points in the team’s most recent victory.
The matchup pits Robert Morris’s recent form against Wright State’s home court, where the Raiders are 4-5 this season. The Colonials have shown resilience in close games, including an overtime win over IU Indy on Jan. 15, but have also been prone to offensive droughts, as in a 64-43 loss at Green Bay.
Williams’ scoring punch will be crucial for the Raiders to keep pace. For Robert Morris, maintaining the defensive intensity that held Youngstown State to 40 points will be paramount. The teams will meet again in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, on Feb. 28.
Tipoff at the Nutter Center is set for Saturday, Jan. 24.
