Towson at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — A pivotal Colonial Athletic Association matchup awaits Saturday when the Towson Tigers visit the Drexel Dragons at Daskalakis Athletic Center.

Both teams enter with momentum from narrow victories Friday night. Towson (11-7, 4-3 CAA) edged Hofstra 58-55 behind a career-high 24 points from guard India Johnston. Drexel (10-7, 4-3) used a stout defensive effort to top Stony Brook 49-41.

The contest features two of the conference’s top performers. Johnston, Towson’s dynamic guard, is averaging 14.3 points per game and is coming off her best scoring output of the season. For Drexel, forward Deja Evans provides an interior presence, averaging 12.1 points and 3.1 blocks per game. She had 13 points in the win over Stony Brook and a 20-point, 7-rebound performance against Hofstra on Jan. 11.

The Tigers have shown resilience, winning four of their last six games, including three victories by three points or fewer. Senior Viki Matulevicius adds balance, posting 10 points and eight rebounds in the Hofstra win.

The Dragons have found their footing after a three-game skid earlier this month, winning three of their last four. Their defense has been key, holding opponents to an average of 52.3 points during that stretch.

Historically, Drexel holds a 48-22 advantage in the series and has won the last three meetings. The teams last met in the 2025 CAA tournament quarterfinals, a 57-50 Drexel victory.

With identical conference records, Saturday’s result will provide crucial positioning in the tightly contested CAA standings ahead of the final month of the regular season.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
