Seattle at Florida International
WESTCHESTER, Fla. (Interstat) — The Seattle Redhawks and Florida International Golden Panthers, both looking to climb above .500, will meet in a non-conference women’s basketball game Sunday at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
Seattle (3-3) arrives after a 72-61 road victory over Presbyterian on Friday. Ella Brubaker led the way with 24 points, while Tamia Stricklin nearly secured a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. The Redhawks’ season has been marked by inconsistency, with a 75-73 win over Cal Poly sandwiched between a 49-point loss to UC Santa Barbara and a 21-point defeat at Boise State.
Florida International (2-3) is also coming off a win, having defeated Maryland-Baltimore County 86-76 at home on Friday. The Golden Panthers’ offense was powered by a trio of scorers: Rhema Collins and Denika Lightbourne each poured in 19 points, and Parris Atkins added 18 points and six rebounds. Like their opponents, the Golden Panthers have struggled on the road, with double-digit losses at Jacksonville, UCF and South Florida.
Sunday’s contest will be the final tune-up for both teams before a stretch of upcoming conference play, offering a chance to build momentum.
