Tulane at South Florida
Preview: Tulane Visits South Florida in AAC Women’s Basketball Clash
TAMPA, Fla. (Interstat) — The Tulane Green Wave look to snap a three-game skid when they visit the South Florida Bulls in an American Athletic Conference women’s basketball matchup Saturday at the Sun Dome.
Tulane (8-13, 3-7 AAC) arrives after a narrow 47-44 home loss to Charlotte on Wednesday, its fifth defeat in the last six games. The Green Wave have struggled offensively, failing to reach 70 points in nine consecutive contests.
South Florida (13-10, 6-5) aims to rebound from a last-second 64-62 road loss at East Carolina, also on Wednesday. The Bulls have been strong at home this season, winning 10 of their 14 games in Tampa.
A key matchup will feature Tulane guard Dyllan Hanna against South Florida’s versatile forward L’or Mputu. Hanna is coming off a 14-point, four-block performance against Charlotte and has averaged 15.3 points over her last three games. Mputu recorded a dominant double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds in the loss to East Carolina, showcasing her ability to control the paint.
Tulane’s recent struggles include a 65-67 overtime loss to Temple on Jan. 31, where Hanna scored 23 points. The Green Wave’s last win was a 73-68 victory over UAB on Jan. 17.
South Florida has shown resilience, winning three of its last five, including an overtime victory over Charlotte on Jan. 27. The Bulls’ offense, which averages over 70 points per game, will test a Tulane defense that has held its last three opponents under 70 points.
In their last meeting during the 2024-25 season, South Florida won both matchups. The Bulls hold the overall series advantage and will look to protect their home court as both teams jockey for position in the AAC standings ahead of the conference tournament next month.
Saturday’s game tips off at 2 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ESPN+. The teams are scheduled to meet again in the regular-season finale at Tulane on March 7.
