Fort Wayne at Green Bay
Preview: Fort Wayne Faces Green Bay in Horizon League Women’s Basketball Clash
ASHAWAUBENON, Wis. (Interstat) — The Green Bay Phoenix look to extend their winning streak when they host the Fort Wayne Mastodons in a Horizon League women’s basketball matchup Wednesday at the Resch Center.
Green Bay (13-5 overall) has won five consecutive games, most recently a 74-53 road victory at Detroit on Saturday. The Phoenix are led by forward Jenna Guyer, who is averaging 18.0 points over her last six games. She is coming off a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double against Detroit.
Fort Wayne (11-7) seeks to rebound after a 54-58 loss at Youngstown State on Saturday, which snapped a two-game win streak. The Mastodons are paced by guard Rylee Bess, who scored a team-high 20 points in the loss. Bess averages 10.6 points per game and has reached double figures in three of her last four contests.
The Phoenix have been dominant at home this season, boasting a 7-1 record at the Resch Center. Their defense has been a cornerstone, holding opponents to an average of 55.2 points during their current win streak.
Fort Wayne, which has split its last six games, will need to contain Guyer and Green Bay’s balanced attack. The Mastodons have shown offensive capability, scoring 84 points in a win at Oakland on Jan. 2, but consistency has been an issue.
Green Bay holds the historical advantage in the series, having won the last 10 meetings. The teams last met in the Horizon League tournament in March 2025, a game Green Bay won 68-52.
Wednesday’s contest is the only scheduled meeting between the programs this regular season. Following this game, Green Bay will visit Milwaukee on Saturday. Fort Wayne’s next game is at home against Cleveland State on Jan. 21.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST.
