SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Louisville women’s basketball team used a dominant first quarter to secure an 84-65 victory over Syracuse at the Carrier Dome on Sunday.

The Cardinals opened with a 28-6 lead and never looked back, weathering a 30-point second quarter from the Orange. Louisville improved to 22-4 overall, while Syracuse fell to 19-5.

Laura Ziegler led all scorers with 22 points for Louisville. Dominique Darius scored 22 for Syracuse. A crowd of 3,617 attended the Atlantic Coast Conference game.
