Bradley Edges Belmont in Defensive Struggle

PEORIA, Ill. (Interstat) — Bradley held off a late Belmont rally for a 51-47 women’s basketball victory Sunday at Carver Arena.

The Braves, led by Kaylen Nelson’s game-high 19 points and eight rebounds, used an 18-5 second-quarter run to build a lead the Bruins could not overcome. Belmont, which shot poorly throughout, closed the gap in the fourth quarter but fell short. Avery Strickland and Jailyn Banks each scored 10 points for the Bruins.

Bradley improved to 19-9. Belmont dropped to 16-11.
