NORMAL, Ill. (Interstat) — Trista Fayta scored 23 points and Illinois State forced 15 turnovers to defeat Drake 77-70 in a women’s basketball game Saturday at Redbird Arena.

The Redbirds (13-9) never trailed after the first quarter, using a 19-8 edge in points off turnovers to maintain control. Drake (6-17) cut the deficit to four points in the fourth quarter but could not complete the comeback. Doneelah Washington added 20 points for Illinois State. Ava Hawthorne led the Bulldogs with 14 points, and Anna Becker scored 15. A crowd of 2,183 watched the Missouri Valley Conference contest.
