Fordham at La Salle
PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Fordham Rams will look to snap a seven-game losing streak when they visit the La Salle Explorers in an Atlantic 10 women’s basketball matchup Saturday at Tom Gola Arena.
Fordham (9-14, 1-9 A-10) enters on a skid, most recently falling 47-42 to Loyola Chicago on Wednesday. The Rams have struggled offensively during the slump, failing to reach 60 points in six of those seven losses. A bright spot has been forward Emma Wilson-Saltos, who scored 13 points in the loss to Loyola. Her season highlight was a 16-point, 16-rebound performance in a win over Saint Bonaventure on Jan. 18.
La Salle (12-11, 5-5) aims to rebound after a 68-60 home loss to Dayton on Wednesday. The Explorers are led by guard Ashleigh Connor, who averages a team-high 17.4 points per game in conference play. Connor is coming off a 26-point effort in a road win at Duquesne on Jan. 31 and scored 17 with five assists against Dayton.
The Explorers won the season’s first meeting 72-69 at Fordham on Dec. 31. In that contest, La Salle erased a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit.
Fordham’s defense, which allows an A-10-worst 68.2 points per game in conference play, will be tested by a La Salle offense averaging 71.2 points at home this season. The Rams rank last in the conference in field goal percentage (35.8%) during A-10 games.
La Salle has won three of its last five and looks to solidify its position in the middle of the conference standings. Fordham, mired at the bottom, seeks a pivotal road victory to build momentum for the final stretch of the season.
The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. EST tip-off.
