Loyola Maryland at Lehigh

FOUNTAIN HILL, Pa. (Interstat) — A pivotal Patriot League rematch awaits Wednesday when the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds visit the Lehigh Mountain Hawks at Stabler Arena.

The teams met just two weeks prior, with Lehigh (10-10) escaping Baltimore with a 67-61 overtime victory on Jan. 21. That result is part of a recent uneven stretch for both squads as they jockey for conference positioning. The Mountain Hawks have split their last six games, while the Greyhounds (9-12) have gone 4-5 in their last nine.

The spotlight will be on a compelling individual duel between two of the league’s top performers. Loyola Maryland’s Lex Therien, a consistent force, enters averaging 17.1 points and 7.4 rebounds in conference play. She was instrumental in the first matchup, scoring 19 points against Lehigh. In her last outing, a 68-62 loss to Navy, she posted 15 points and nine rebounds.

She will be countered by Lehigh’s Lily Fandre, who is coming off a 23-point, six-rebound performance in a narrow 68-66 loss at Colgate. Fandre dominated the January meeting, erupting for a career-high 32 points in 40 minutes to will the Mountain Hawks to the overtime win.

For Loyola Maryland, reversing that result will require containing Fandre and finding supplemental scoring behind Therien. Koi Sims, who had 18 points and eight rebounds against Navy, will be a key factor. Lehigh seeks more consistency after alternating wins and losses over its last five games. Whitney Lind (11 points, nine rebounds vs. Colgate) provides a crucial secondary option.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST. Following this contest, Loyola Maryland hosts Boston University on Saturday, while Lehigh remains at home to face Holy Cross.
