HOUSTON (Interstat) — The Rice women’s basketball team used a strong final period to pull away from UAB for a 76-56 victory in American Athletic Conference play Wednesday night at Tudor Fieldhouse.

The Owls (14-3) outscored the Blazers 24-12 in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Dominique Ennis led all scorers with 19 points for Rice, while Shelby Hayes added 18 points. Monae Duffy paced UAB (7-10) with 13 points.

Rice built an early lead and maintained control throughout, holding UAB to just 13 points in each of the first two quarters. An announced crowd of 885 watched the Owls improve their home record.
