GREENVILLE, N.C. (Interstat) — East Carolina defeated Florida Atlantic 74-61 in a women’s basketball game Tuesday night at Williams Arena.

The Pirates built a 42-22 halftime lead behind 19 points in the first quarter and 23 in the second. The Owls found rhythm after halftime, outscoring East Carolina 20-13 in the third quarter and 19-13 in the fourth, but the early deficit proved too large to overcome.

East Carolina improved to 20-7 overall. Florida Atlantic fell to 12-14. Both teams are members of the American Athletic Conference.
