Wyoming Upsets UNLV Behind Strong Shooting in Mountain West Women’s Basketball
LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — Wyoming stunned UNLV 82-72 in a Mountain West women’s basketball game Wednesday night at Thomas & Mack Center, avenging a 29-point loss to the Runnin’ Rebels from January.
The Cowboys built a 45-32 halftime lead behind sharp perimeter shooting and never trailed. Wyoming made 16 three-pointers, while UNLV managed just six. Malene Pedersen led Wyoming with 26 points, supported by Henna Sandvik’s 25 and Jane Rumpf’s 20.
UNLV’s Meadow Roland scored a game-high 30 points, but the Rebels could not overcome the early deficit despite a 28-14 advantage in paint points. Wyoming improved to 9-15, while UNLV fell to 16-8.
