Kennesaw State at UTEP
EL PASO, Texas (Interstat) — The UTEP Miners will look to avenge a lopsided loss from earlier this season when they host the Kennesaw State Owls in a non-conference women’s basketball game Saturday at the Don Haskins Center.
The matchup features two teams seeking momentum to close the regular season. UTEP (12-13) enters with a slight edge in the win column over Kennesaw State (11-15). The Miners are coming off a 69-58 road victory over New Mexico State on Feb. 21, led by a double-double from forward Ndack Mbengue, who had 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Mbengue has been a consistent force for UTEP, recording double-doubles in two of her last four games. Her presence inside will be pivotal against a Kennesaw State squad that has lost five of its last six, including a 40-52 defeat at New Mexico State on Thursday. In that loss, guard Keyarah Berry led the Owls with 12 points.
Berry remains the focal point for Kennesaw State. She averaged 14.4 points over her last eight games, including a 23-point performance against Sam Houston on Feb. 19. However, the Owls have struggled offensively during their recent skid, failing to reach 60 points in four of their last five outings.
The previous meeting this season heavily favors the Owls. On Jan. 22 in Kennesaw, the Owls dominated UTEP in an 83-52 rout. UTEP will aim for a drastically different result on its home floor, where it is 8-5 this season. Kennesaw State is 3-10 in road games.
For UTEP, containing Berry and improving its offensive output from the January meeting are clear priorities. For Kennesaw State, reversing a recent trend of slow starts and finding secondary scoring behind Berry will be essential to secure a road split in Texas.
Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026.
