Charlotte Edges Florida Atlantic in Defensive Struggle

BOCA RATON, Fla. (Interstat) — Princess Anderson scored 20 points to lead Charlotte to a 57-56 victory over Florida Atlantic in an American Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Tuesday night at FAU Gymnasium.

The 49ers (13-15) never trailed after the first quarter but endured a tense finish. The Owls (12-16) cut a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit to one in the final minute but could not complete the comeback. Anderson’s scoring, coupled with nine points and six assists from Tanajah Hayes, provided enough offense for Charlotte, which swept the season series.

Erin Rodgers led Florida Atlantic with 12 points, while Grace Carstensen and Vivian Onugha each added 11. An announced crowd of 617 saw the defensive battle where neither team shot above 40 percent from the floor.
