Preview: TCU Lady Frogs at Colorado Buffaloes

BOULDER, Colo. (Interstat) — The TCU Lady Frogs, riding high as one of the nation’s top teams, will face a challenging road test against the Colorado Buffaloes in a Big 12 women’s basketball matchup Sunday at the Coors Events Center.

TCU (21-3, 9-2 Big 12) enters with dominant momentum, having won eight of its last nine games. The Lady Frogs are coming off a 90-45 rout of Houston on Wednesday, where guard Olivia Miles scored 25 points. Miles, a national player of the year candidate, has been spectacular, averaging 19.1 points, 5.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds over her last eight contests. She is supported by a deep roster that includes Marta Suárez (24 points vs. Houston) and Donovyn Hunter.

Colorado (15-8, 6-5) looks to rebound on its home floor after a 61-55 loss to West Virginia. The Buffaloes have shown resilience, including an overtime win at Kansas on Feb. 1. Their success often hinges on the play of forward Jade Masogayo, who is averaging 15.2 points over her last seven games and posted 21 points and eight rebounds in the victory over the Jayhawks.

The matchup pits TCU’s high-powered offense, which has scored 77 or more points in six of its last nine games, against a Colorado team that has held opponents under 70 points in five of its last seven outings. TCU’s only losses since mid-December came by a combined four points on the road at Ohio State and Texas Tech.

Colorado will need to contain Miles and find consistent scoring beyond Masogayo to pull the upset. A win would bolster the Buffaloes’ NCAA tournament resume, while TCU aims to solidify its hold on the conference’s top tier.

Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon in Boulder.
