Charlotte at Tulane

Preview: Charlotte 49ers at Tulane Green Wave

NEW ORLEANS (Interstat) — Two American Athletic Conference women’s basketball teams seeking to halt slides will meet Wednesday when the Charlotte 49ers visit the Tulane Green Wave at Devlin Fieldhouse.

Charlotte (9-13) enters on a four-game losing streak, most recently falling 67-61 to East Carolina on Jan. 30. The 49ers have struggled in close contests, with three of their last four losses coming by six points or fewer, including an overtime defeat at South Florida and a one-point loss at Temple.

The 49ers will lean on guard Tanajah Hayes, who has been a consistent offensive catalyst. Over her last seven games, Hayes is averaging 15.7 points and 5.7 assists per contest, including a 28-point effort against Tulsa and a 24-point, 10-assist double-double in the narrow loss to Temple.

Tulane (8-12) also looks to rebound from a heartbreaking result, a 67-65 overtime home loss to Temple on Jan. 31. The Green Wave have lost three of their last four, with the lone win in that stretch a 73-68 victory over UAB on Jan. 17.

Forward Dyllan Hanna is a key figure for Tulane. She scored a season-high 23 points while playing all 40 minutes in the overtime loss to Temple. Her defensive presence is also notable, having recorded multiple blocks in three of her last six appearances.

Both teams have found conference play challenging. Charlotte is 3-7 against AAC opponents, while Tulane sits at 2-6. The matchup represents a critical opportunity for either squad to gain momentum in the league standings before the final stretch of the regular season.

For Charlotte, containing Hanna inside and finding consistent secondary scoring behind Hayes will be priorities. Tulane must navigate Charlotte’s pressure, as Hayes’ playmaking has generated high assist numbers recently.

The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. CST tip-off Wednesday at Devlin Fieldhouse.
