Preview: Utah at UCF Women’s Basketball
OVIEDO, Fla. (Interstat) — The Utah Utes look to rebound from a road loss when they visit the UCF Knights in a Big 12 Conference women’s basketball matchup Wednesday at CFE Arena.
Utah (15-7, 5-4 Big 12) enters having dropped two of its last three, including a 77-65 defeat at BYU on Saturday. The Utes are 4-3 in true road games this season.
UCF (10-11, 2-7) seeks to end a three-game skid, most recently a 65-52 loss at Iowa State. The Knights are 7-4 at home but have struggled in conference play.
A key matchup will feature Utah guard Lani White against UCF’s Jacorriah Bracey. White, the Utes’ leading scorer in three of the last seven games, is averaging 14.1 points per game in that stretch. She poured in 20 points in the loss at BYU.
Bracey has been a bright spot for UCF, averaging 8.0 points per game. She scored a team-high 16 points in 37 minutes against Iowa State.
Utah’s offense runs through White and Maty Wilke, who scored 18 against BYU. Forward Reese Ross anchors the interior, pulling down 13 rebounds in that contest.
UCF will rely on forward Khyala Ngodu, who had 11 rebounds and eight points against Iowa State, and Mahogany Chandler-Roberts (10 points) to provide balance.
The Utes have shown resilience on the road with wins at Houston, Kansas State and Kansas earlier this month. UCF’s conference wins came against Colorado and Arizona.
This is the first meeting between the programs as Big 12 opponents. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
