Baylor at Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (Interstat) — The Baylor Lady Bears look to rebound from a rare conference loss when they visit the Cincinnati Bearcats in a Big 12 women’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at Fifth Third Arena.

Baylor (19-4, 8-2 Big 12) saw a seven-game winning streak snapped in a 70-60 road loss at West Virginia on Sunday. Despite the defeat, forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs continued her strong play, posting 12 points and eight rebounds. The junior standout has been a consistent force, averaging 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds over her last seven contests, including a 25-point outburst against Houston on Jan. 27. She is complemented by guard Taliah Scott, who scored a team-high 18 points in the loss to the Mountaineers.

The Lady Bears, known for their defensive intensity, will aim to tighten up after allowing West Virginia to shoot 46% from the field. Prior to that, Baylor had held six consecutive opponents under 66 points.

Cincinnati (8-14, 3-7) enters on a two-game skid but has shown resilience, most recently falling 72-70 at Houston on Sunday. The Bearcats are led by guard Caliyah DeVillasee, who poured in 21 points in that narrow defeat. DeVillasee has averaged 15.0 points over her last seven games, including a 19-point effort in an overtime win at UCF on Jan. 14. Forward Destiny Thomas provides an interior presence, adding 10 points and five rebounds off the bench against Houston.

The Bearcats have struggled for consistency in league play but have been competitive at home, including a 66-64 win over Arizona State on Jan. 24. They will need to contain Baylor’s balanced offensive attack and find scoring beyond DeVillasee to pull an upset.

This is the first meeting between the programs as Big 12 conference foes. Baylor’s pedigree and pursuit of a conference title contrast with Cincinnati’s aim to build momentum in the league’s middle tier. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday in Cincinnati.
