Le Moyne at Wagner
Preview: Le Moyne Dolphins at Wagner Seahawks
NEW YORK (Interstat) — Two Northeast Conference women’s basketball teams looking to build momentum will meet Thursday when the Wagner Seahawks host the Le Moyne Dolphins at Spiro Sports Center.
Wagner (7-10) enters on the heels of a 50-45 defensive victory over New Haven on Saturday. The Seahawks have shown inconsistency in conference play, alternating wins and losses in their last six games. They will rely on guard Klea Kaci, who led the team with 15 points in the win over New Haven. Kaci has scored in double figures in four of her last seven appearances.
Le Moyne (5-14) seeks to rebound from a 61-55 home loss to Chicago State last Saturday. The Dolphins have struggled for consistency all season but have shown flashes, including road wins at Central Connecticut and New Haven earlier this month. Their offense runs through standout guard Ashley Buragas, who is coming off a 23-point performance against Chicago State and has averaged 18.1 points over her last seven games. Buragas recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds in a win at Central Connecticut on Jan. 10.
The matchup pits Wagner’s slightly more stable record against a Le Moyne team featuring one of the conference’s top individual scorers in Buragas. The Dolphins will need secondary scoring from players like Sierra Linnin, who added 16 points in the last outing, to support Buragas.
For Wagner, maintaining the defensive intensity that held New Haven to 45 points will be key. The Seahawks have won three of their last five at home.
This game is the first of two regular-season meetings between the programs this season. They are scheduled to meet again at Le Moyne on Thursday, Feb. 5.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at Spiro Sports Center on Staten Island.
