Texas-San Antonio at South Florida

Preview: UTSA Roadrunners at South Florida Bulls

TAMPA, Fla. (Interstat) — The South Florida Bulls look to continue their recent momentum in American Athletic Conference play when they host the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners in a women’s basketball matchup Tuesday night at the Sun Dome.

The Bulls (10-7, 3-1 AAC) enter on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating Memphis 90-81 on Saturday. Forward Carla Brito has been a consistent force, averaging 10.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. She is coming off a 14-point, 8-rebound performance against Memphis.

South Florida’s offense has found its rhythm in conference play, averaging 79 points per game in its three AAC wins after a non-conference schedule that included blowout losses to powerhouses South Carolina and Connecticut.

UTSA (8-6, 2-1) arrives in Tampa after a 69-63 home victory over Charlotte, also on Saturday. The Roadrunners have won three of their last four, with their lone loss in that span a narrow 70-65 defeat at Columbia.

Guard Mia Hammonds leads UTSA, averaging 9.6 points per game. She scored a season-high 17 points in the win over Charlotte. She is complemented by Ereauna Hardaway, who had 19 points and seven assists against the 49ers, and Cheyenne Rowe, who added 16 points and six rebounds.

The Roadrunners have relied on defense during their solid start to league play, holding opponents to an average of 58.3 points in their three AAC contests.

This game marks the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams. They will meet again in San Antonio on Feb. 14.

South Florida holds the overall home-court advantage, but UTSA has shown resilience on the road, including a 50-47 win at Temple on Jan. 3.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST Tuesday. The Bulls will look to protect their home floor and stay near the top of the AAC standings, while the Roadrunners aim to secure a key road victory to bolster their conference record.
