Saint Joseph`s at Columbia
NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Saint Joseph’s Hawks will look to bounce back from their first loss of the season when they visit the Columbia Lions in a non-conference women’s basketball matchup on Thursday.
The game at Levien Gymnasium pits two teams off to strong starts. Saint Joseph’s (3-1) opened with three straight wins before falling 89-77 to Penn State on Sunday. Guard Aleah Snead scored 21 points and Gabby Casey added 24 in the loss.
Columbia (2-1) saw its own two-game winning streak snapped in a 77-67 home loss to Richmond on Saturday. Susie Rafiu posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the contest, while Perri Page and Riley Weiss added 15 and 16 points, respectively.
The Hawks’ offense has been potent, averaging over 70 points per game, led by the backcourt duo of Snead and Casey. The Lions will counter with a balanced attack that previously produced 92 points in a road win at Ohio.
Following this contest, Saint Joseph’s will prepare for a Big 5 rivalry game at Penn on Monday. Columbia is set to host Binghamton on the same day before traveling to a tournament in Cancún, Mexico.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
