Merrimack at Rhode Island

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (Interstat) — Two teams coming off dominant, season-opening victories will meet Friday when the Rhode Island Rams host the Merrimack Warriors in a nonconference women’s basketball game at the Ryan Center.

Both teams enter with 1-0 records. The Rams opened their season with a 56-38 road win over Manhattan on Monday. Palmire Mbu led the way with a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds, while also blocking five shots. Albina Syla also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Merrimack arrives after a 97-46 rout of UMass Boston on Tuesday. The Warriors’ offense was fueled by Lydia Melashenko, who scored 18 points in just 16 minutes of play. Madison Roman posted a near triple-double with nine points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

The game will be a test for both squads early in the 2025-26 campaign. For Rhode Island, it is the second of a three-game homestand before a challenging road test at Rutgers. Merrimack continues a stretch of four straight road games to open its season.

Tip-off is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 7, at the Ryan Center.
