BROOKINGS, S.D. (Interstat) — The South Dakota State women’s basketball team looks to build on a strong opening victory when it hosts the Rice Owls on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at Frost Arena.

The Jackrabbits (1-0) are coming off a 78-62 road win over Creighton on Monday. Brooklyn Meyer led the way with a dominant 33-point, five-assist, five-block performance, while Katie Vasecka added 18 points.

Rice (0-0) tips off its 2025-26 season in Brookings. The Owls last took the court in the 2025 postseason, falling 69-62 at South Florida on March 12.

This non-conference matchup pits the experienced Jackrabbits, who have already shaken off any offseason rust, against an Owls squad playing its first official game. South Dakota State’s potent offense, led by Meyer and Vasecka, will be a immediate test for Rice’s defense.

The game begins a challenging early-season stretch for South Dakota State, with future games against Gonzaga, North Carolina and Kansas State. Rice’s upcoming schedule includes a crosstown trip to Houston on Nov. 11.
