Fresno State at Wyoming

Preview: Fresno State Bulldogs at Wyoming Cowboys

BOSLER, Wyo. (Interstat) — Two Mountain West women’s basketball teams looking to build momentum will meet Wednesday night when the Fresno State Bulldogs visit the Wyoming Cowboys at Arena-Auditorium.

Both squads enter the conference matchup on the heels of victories last Saturday, offering a chance to string together wins in a season that has seen consistency elude them. Fresno State (9-11, 3-4 MW) snapped a two-game skid with a 54-44 road win at Nevada on Jan. 17 before falling to Colorado State 68-55 on Jan. 24. Wyoming (7-12, 3-3 MW) has won three of its last four, including a convincing 74-56 road victory at Utah State last time out.

The Bulldogs will lean on guard Emilia Long, who has been a dynamic scorer in recent weeks. Long averaged 18.4 points over an eight-game stretch through Jan. 24, including three performances of 21 points or more. Her playmaking will be key against a Wyoming defense that has held two of its last three opponents under 52 points.

Wyoming counters with its own offensive catalyst in guard Malene Pedersen. She has averaged 16.5 points during the Cowboys’ recent improved stretch, including a 24-point effort in a win over Air Force on Jan. 17. Her backcourt battle with Long will be a focal point.

Fresno State won the season’s first meeting decisively, 53-36, at home on Dec. 20, 2025. In that game, the Bulldogs’ defense stifled Wyoming, holding the Cowboys to a season-low point total. Wyoming will seek a measure of revenge and improved offensive execution on its home floor.

The game is part of a tight middle section of the Mountain West standings. A win for Wyoming would even its conference record and potentially move it ahead of Fresno State, depending on other results. The Bulldogs aim to climb back to .500 in league play.

Following this contest, Fresno State returns home to host Air Force on Saturday. Wyoming hits the road for a game at Grand Canyon the same day.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST Wednesday.
