TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) — The Rice women’s basketball team used a decisive third quarter to secure a 78-66 victory over Tulsa on Tuesday night at Donald Reynolds Center.

The Owls, who trailed by four after the first quarter, outscored the Golden Hurricane 25-18 in the third period to take control. Rice improved to 15-3 overall behind a significant rebounding advantage, grabbing 16 offensive boards to Tulsa’s seven. The Golden Hurricane struggled from beyond the arc, making just 2 of 16 three-point attempts.

Rice shot 42 percent from the field while holding Tulsa to 37.7 percent shooting. The Golden Hurricane fell to 12-6. Attendance was 1,238.
