UNLV at San Jose State
Preview: UNLV Runnin’ Rebels at San Jose State Spartans
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging UNLV women’s basketball team will look to extend its winning streak against a struggling San Jose State squad in a Mountain West Conference matchup Wednesday night at the Event Center.
The Runnin’ Rebels (11-5, 5-0 MW) enter on a six-game win streak, most recently dominating Wyoming 82-53 on Saturday. Forward Shelbee Brown powered that victory with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Brown has been a consistent force, averaging a double-double over her last five games.
UNLV’s conference start marks its best since the 2020-21 season. Their defense has been key, holding opponents to an average of 58.8 points during the streak.
The Spartans (2-15, 0-5), meanwhile, seek their first conference win amid a five-game skid. They fell 76-57 to Air Force at home Saturday. Guard Katarina Anderson led San Jose State with 11 points and three assists in that loss. The Spartans have struggled on both ends, ranking near the bottom of the league in scoring offense and defense.
San Jose State’s only victories this season came against Sacramento State and Cal St. Monterey Bay. They will need a significant defensive effort to contain a balanced UNLV attack that features multiple scoring threats alongside Brown, including Meadow Roland, who had 18 points and 12 rebounds against Wyoming.
The teams last met in February 2025, with UNLV securing a 77-59 victory. Historical trends favor the Rebels, who have won 12 of the last 13 meetings.
Wednesday’s contest tips off at 7 p.m. PST. UNLV visits San Diego State on Saturday, while San Jose State travels to Colorado State.
