Colorado State at Air Force

Preview: Colorado State Rams at Air Force Falcons

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (Interstat) — The Colorado State Rams look to rebound from their first losing streak of the season when they visit the Air Force Falcons in a Mountain West women’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at Clune Arena.

The Rams (13-4) have dropped consecutive games for the first time this season, falling 66-59 to New Mexico and 62-59 at Boise State last week. Prior to that, they had won five straight. Guard Lexus Bargesser has been a consistent force, averaging 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists over her last six contests. She posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in a win at Grand Canyon on Dec. 31.

Air Force (8-8) enters with momentum after a decisive 76-57 road victory at San Jose State on Saturday. Keelie O’Hollaren led the Falcons with a season-high 25 points in that win. Her production has been variable, but she averages 12.4 points per game and is capable of explosive performances, as shown by a 16-point outing at Utah State in December.

The Falcons have struggled for consistency in conference play, however, with a 2-3 Mountain West record. Their defense at home has been a strength, holding opponents to an average of 58.8 points in six games at Clune Arena this season.

Colorado State holds a significant edge in the overall series, but the Falcons will aim to leverage their home court and build on their latest performance. The Rams will rely on Bargesser and backcourt mate Kloe Froebe to stabilize an offense that has cooled slightly after a high-scoring start to league play.

For Air Force, containing Bargesser’s all-around game and finding secondary scoring behind O’Hollaren and Milahnie Perry, who added 20 points against San Jose State, will be critical. The Falcons are 6-2 at home this season, while Colorado State is 4-3 in true road games.

Wednesday’s contest is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this regular season. Following this game, Colorado State hosts San Jose State on Saturday, while Air Force travels to face Wyoming.
