Tulane at Temple
PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — Two American Athletic Conference teams seeking momentum will meet Tuesday when the Temple Owls host the Tulane Green Wave in a women’s basketball matchup at Liacouras Center.
Temple (7-8, 1-2 AAC) looks to rebound from a 94-82 road loss at Tulsa last Friday, despite a career-high 31 points from junior guard Kaylah Turner. Tulane (6-10, 1-2) arrives after a 59-53 home loss to North Texas on Saturday, its second straight defeat.
The game features a compelling backcourt duel between two of the league’s top scorers. Turner has been a consistent offensive force for the Owls, averaging 23.2 points over her last five games, including a 36-point performance at Princeton. She leads Temple in scoring.
For the Green Wave, sophomore guard Mecailin Marshall is coming off her best game of the season, recording a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes against North Texas. Over her last seven contests, she is averaging 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds.
Both teams have struggled for consistency in conference play. Temple’s league results include a 20-point win at Wichita State and a narrow home loss to Texas-San Antonio. Tulane opened AAC play with a road win at Wichita State but has since dropped two close games at home.
Defensive execution will be critical. Temple allows an average of 68.1 points per game, while Tulane yields 66.9. The Owls will aim to leverage their home court, where they are 5-3 this season. The Green Wave are 1-6 in true road games.
Following this contest, Temple travels to face East Carolina on Saturday. Tulane returns home to host UAB the same day.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
