LORMAN, Miss. (Interstat) — Nakia Cheatham scored 17 points to lead Alcorn State to a 67-56 win over Mississippi Valley State in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game Tuesday night at Davey Whitney Complex.

The Lady Braves built a 39-25 halftime lead but were outscored 18-8 in the third quarter as the Devilettes closed the gap. Alcorn State responded with a 20-point fourth quarter to secure the victory. Kiarra Henderson added 11 points for Alcorn State, which improved to 16-11. Ariel Jefferson scored 12 points for Mississippi Valley State, which fell to 6-22. An announced crowd of 386 attended the Southwestern Athletic Conference game.
