CONWAY, S.C. (Interstat) — Coastal Carolina survived a late rally to edge Appalachian State 65-64 in a Sun Belt Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday afternoon at HTC Center.

The Chanticleers led by 12 entering the fourth quarter but scored only eight points as the Mountaineers mounted a comeback. Appalachian State’s 21-point final period fell just short. Coastal Carolina used a dominant 26-point third quarter to build its decisive lead after trailing by one at halftime.

Coastal Carolina improved to 13-15 overall. Appalachian State fell to 11-15. Attendance was 1,221.
