South Dakota at Oral Roberts

TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) — A Summit League women’s basketball rematch with significant conference implications is set for Saturday when the South Dakota Coyotes visit the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles at the Mabee Center.

The matchup comes just one month after Oral Roberts (12-10, 4-3 Summit) delivered a stunning 83-61 rout of South Dakota (17-6, 6-2) in Vermillion on Jan. 8. That result stands as the Coyotes’ most lopsided loss in league play this season and figures to be a primary motivator for the visiting squad.

South Dakota enters on a strong run, having won five of its last six games, including a decisive 73-54 victory over South Dakota State last Saturday. The Coyotes are led by forward Elise Turrubiates, who is coming off a dominant 19-point, 12-rebound performance in that win. Over her last seven games, Turrubiates has averaged 12.1 points and 5.3 rebounds.

Oral Roberts looks to rebound from a 93-72 road loss to North Dakota State last weekend. The Golden Eagles have shown a potent offense at home, averaging 83 points over their last three games in Tulsa. Guard Anna Trusty has been a consistent contributor, scoring in double figures in six consecutive games, including an 18-point effort against Missouri-Kansas City on Jan. 15.

The game pits South Dakota’s conference-best defense, allowing just 56.2 points per game, against an Oral Roberts offense that averages a league-second 75.8 points. Containing the Golden Eagles’ perimeter attack will be critical for the Coyotes, who have held opponents under 40% shooting from the field this season.

With both teams jockeying for position ahead of the Summit League tournament, Saturday’s contest offers South Dakota a chance for crucial road redemption and Oral Roberts an opportunity to solidify its standing with a season sweep of a league heavyweight.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CST at the Mabee Center.
