BELLARMINE SEEKS ROAD UPSET AGAINST STETSON IN ASUN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

DELAND, Fla. (Interstat) — The Stetson Hatters, riding a three-game winning streak, will look to continue their push in the ASUN Conference standings when they host the struggling Bellarmine Knights on Saturday.

The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST at Edmunds Center.

Stetson (14-8 overall) enters the matchup after a convincing 74-56 road victory at North Florida on Thursday. The Hatters have won five of their last six, showcasing a balanced attack. In the win, Cameron Thomas led all scorers with 21 points, while standout forward Aleah Sorrentino added 20 points. Sorrentino has been a consistent force, averaging 16.1 points over her last eight games.

Bellarmine (2-22) is mired in a 10-game losing skid, most recently falling 79-40 at Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday. The Knights have struggled offensively, failing to reach 60 points in any game during the streak and averaging just 46.2 points in that span.

Guard Kayce Hyman has been a bright spot for Bellarmine, leading the team in scoring in five of the last eight contests. She posted 14 points in the loss to FGCU and is averaging 13.6 points over her last eight outings.

The matchup presents a stark contrast in trajectories. Stetson sits firmly in the upper tier of the conference, while Bellarmine is trying to find footing in a difficult season. The Hatters won the first meeting this season, 85-29 in Louisville on Jan. 8.

Stetson’s defense, which held North Florida to 33.9% shooting, will aim to contain Hyman and challenge a Knights team shooting just 34.8% from the field this season. Bellarmine will need a significant defensive effort to slow Sorrentino and Thomas, who combined for 41 points in Thursday’s win.

Following this game, Stetson will travel to face Jacksonville on Feb. 12. Bellarmine returns home to host Lipscomb on Feb. 12.
