Grand Canyon at Utah State
Preview: Grand Canyon Antelopes at Utah State Aggies
NIBLEY, Utah (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to halt extended slides will meet Wednesday afternoon when the Grand Canyon Antelopes visit the Utah State Aggies in a Mountain West women’s basketball matchup at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Both squads enter with identical 2-5 conference records and are looking to rebound from weekend losses. Grand Canyon (6-14) fell 75-65 to Boise State at home on Saturday. Utah State (6-13) dropped its sixth consecutive game, a 74-56 home loss to Wyoming on the same day.
The Antelopes have shown flashes, including a three-game winning streak earlier this month, but have lost two straight. They are led by Norah Moo, who is coming off a season-high 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks in 21 minutes against Boise State. Ale’Jah Douglas, who scored 16 points in that loss, provides additional scoring punch.
Utah State’s struggles are more pronounced, having not won since Dec. 31. The Aggies will lean on guard Karyn Sanford, who has been a consistent performer during the skid. She nearly posted a double-double against Wyoming with 12 points and eight rebounds, and has averaged 34 minutes per game over her last five contests.
Defense may be a deciding factor. Grand Canyon allows an average of 68.2 points per game, while Utah State scores just 59.2 points per contest. The Antelopes won the last meeting between the teams, 65-58, on Feb. 19, 2025.
Following this game, Grand Canyon hosts Wyoming on Saturday. Utah State hits the road for a matchup at New Mexico on the same day.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST Wednesday.
