Stony Brook Tops Towson in Defensive Women’s Basketball Contest

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (Interstat) — Stony Brook held Towson to a season-low scoring output in a 55-43 women’s basketball victory Sunday at Island Federal Credit Union Arena.

The Seawolves (10-9) used a balanced effort and stifling defense to hand the Tigers (10-7) their second straight loss. Sandra Frau-Garcia led Stony Brook with 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Semaya Turner’s 12 rebounds were a bright spot for Towson, which managed just 13 field goals.

Stony Brook capitalized on Towson’s mistakes, allowing only two points off turnovers while scoring 16 of their own off Tiger giveaways. The Seawolves also out-rebounded Towson 52-36 to control the tempo.
