VEZAIE, Maine (Interstat) — Vermont built a steady lead and defeated the Maine women’s basketball team 64-53 on Thursday night at Cross Insurance Center.

The Catamounts led 33-24 at halftime and extended their advantage after the break, outscoring Maine 20-13 in the third quarter. Vermont’s scoring was balanced across all four periods, while the Black Bears were held to 12 points in each of the first two quarters before a late push in the fourth.

The loss drops Maine’s season record to 8-10. An announced crowd of 934 attended the non-divisional game. Maine next plays at New Hampshire on Saturday.
